Nachbor Reaches the End Zone 6 Times as Buccaneers Win Big

Brody Nachbor had another outstanding night on the high school football field, running for 182 yards and 6 touchdowns to lead the Border West Buccaneers to a 65-18 victory over Ashby/Brandon-Evansville on Wednesday night.  Border West finishes the regular season with a record of 6-2 and received the number 2 seed in the Section 4 – 9 player tournament.

 

Nachbor scored the first two touchdowns of the night on runs of 16 yards and 3 yards.  He also scored both conversions for a 16-0 lead after one quarter of play.

The Bolts notched back-to-back touchdowns to start the second quarter on a three yard run and a 24 yard run by Micah Fuller, however, neither conversion try was successful and the Bucs held a 16-12 lead.  Nachbor then added TD runs of one yard and 3 yards, along with two more successful conversion tries, increasing the Bucs lead to 32-12.  Border West quarterback Holden Rinke broke free for a 58 yard TD run and Nachbor then hit Tayton Schmidt with a halfback pass for the conversion points and a 40-12 advantage.  Nachbor’s fifth touchdown of the game came on an 11 yard run and handed the Buccaneers a 46-12 halftime lead.

In the third quarter, Nachbor notched touchdown number six on the night, going 20 yards for the score.  Grady Fischer booted the extra-point for a 53-12 Border West lead.  Ashby/Brandon-Evansville scored on a 50 yard pass play from Evan Dingwall to Bryce Froemming, cutting the lead to 53-18 at the end of three quarters.

Gunner Hennessy scored a pair of fourth quarter touchdowns with the first one coming on an 11 yard pass from Owen Deal and the second on a 41 yard run.  Both conversion tries failed, leaving the final score at 65-18.

Rinke ran for 100 yards on 7 carries and completed 6-of-8 passes for 62 yards.  Hennessy finished with 62 rushing yards on 3 attempts and Nachbor added 25 receiving yards on one catch.  Jude Olson and Brayden Andrews each caught two passes for 18 yards.

Defensively, Zach Hansen and Schmidt each had a fumble recovery, while Rinke intercepted a pass.  Hansen (5 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 2 tackles for loss) and Olson (4 tackles, 3 assisted tackles, 1 tackle for loss) were the tackle leaders for Border West.

The Bolts were led by Fuller (12 rushes, 57 yards, 2 TD's), Dingwall (4 completions, 10 attempts, 73 yards, TD) and Seth Thoennes (3 catches, 20 yards).    Froemming (5 tackles) and Dustin Gillespie (4 tackles) led the defense, with Gillespie and Willliam Englund combining on a sack.
