Hancock won both ends of a softball double header with Brandon-Evansville on Saturday, posting wins of 3-0 and 10-9.  The two teams combined for just 3 hits in the first game with Hancock scoring single runs in the first, second and sixth innings.  In game two, the Owls overcame a 9-8 deficit with a pair of seventh inning runs to complete the sweep.

Taylin Kramer (6IP, 1H, 3R, 1ER, 5BB, 10K) was the hard luck loser in game one.  Kylee Dingwall and Claire Boesl led the Chargers at the plate, each going 1-for-3.

“This was a well-played, hard fought game to open the double header,” said B-E Head Coach Kasi Sieling.  “Taylin threw a very solid game, but we just weren’t able to get anything going offensively to back her up.”

Hitting leaders for the Chargers in game two were Sydney Schaefer (1-4, 2R, RBI), Kramer (1-3, 2R, RBI), Dingwall (3-4, R, 2RBI) and Sophie Koep (1-3, RBI).

“We battled hard until the very end of this game, gaining the lead in the bottom of the sixth, but we just weren’t able to close it out,” explained Coach Sieling.  “Hancock is a very talented team that hit the ball hard and we gave them too many extra opportunities.  Offensively, we took a while to find our groove in the box and get balls past the clean fielding Owls.  When you play a talented team they are going to take advantage of any miscues and Hancock did that tonight to come out ahead in the second game.  I’m proud of how the girls fought in this game and look forward to seeing how they respond and grow from these games.”
