The Pelican Rapids softball team broke a 3-3 tie with two runs in the sixth and added another in the seventh as they knocked fourth-seeded Brandon-Evansville out of the Section 6A softball playoffs with a 6-3 win on Tuesday, collecting 7 hits and holding the Chargers to 4 hits on the day.

Leading hitters for the Chargers were Taylin Kramer (1-4, R), Bailey Schaefer (1-3, 2R), Kylee Dingwall (1-3, RBI) and Morgan Bitzan (1-2).  Mikenna Pattrin (7IP, 7H, 6R, 6ER, 3BB, 7K) took the loss in the circle.

“Pelican Rapids is a tough team and they just got a few more breaks than we did tonight,” commented Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Kasi Sieling. “We left runners on base in every inning and just couldn’t string hits together to get a rally going when we needed it. Mikenna threw a solid game, unfortunately, we weren’t able to make the plays we needed to in order to come out with the win tonight. I am very proud of this group of girls and all they have accomplished this season. They worked hard, stepped into new roles and did everything we asked of them. It is important for them to not let this last game define them or this season and focus on the goals they achieved, the improvements they made and the memories we made as a team. Thank you to our seniors, Bailey Schaefer, Mikenna Pattrin, Korrie Randt and Morgan Bitzan. These young women have been tremendous leaders in our program and have always worked to improve. They are amazing young women and I cannot wait to see all they go on to achieve in life.”

No Pelican Rapids stats were reported.  The Vikings will now face Browerville/Eagle Valley at 3:00pm Thursday in Browerville.
