Brandon-Evansville improved their record to 5-1 on the young baseball season as they handed Browerville/Eagle Valley a 7-3 loss on Monday in Evansville.  Winning pitcher Tyler Bitzan pitched 4 2/3 innings of scoreless, one-hit ball, striking out seven and walking four.

The Chargers got on the board in the first inning when Bitzan doubled, scoring Kyle Schaffran.  B-E added another run in the third when Titus Fuller walked, stole second and scored on Schaffran’s single.  With Brandon-Evansville leading 3-0 in the top of the fourth, Riley Perleberg led off with a double and Schaffran walked.  Both runners came around to score, increased their lead to 5-0.

Browerville scored all three of their runs in the bottom of the seventh inning with the help of four walks and a two-run double by Parker Duncan.

Offensive leaders for the Chargers were Riley Perleberg (2-4, 2B, R), Schaffran (1-1, 2R, SB, RBI) and Tyler Bitzan (1-4, 2B, RBI).

“We had many contributions tonight from a lot of different players and we’re seeing different kids step up when needed both offensively and defensively,” commented Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “Tyler Bitzan and Dezmond White (2IP, 0R, H, K) both pitched with confidence and continued finding ways to get outs and are getting more comfortable with every inning pitched.  Titus Fuller and Brady Perleberg turned in a couple of impressive defensive plays, while Riley Perleberg has adjusted nicely to the catcher’s position and has played well defensively.  Tonight we got Jayden Hoidahl into the lineup for the first time this season which gave our outfield a boost, and Kyle Schaffran is seeing the ball very well at the plate.  We still have plenty of work to do and are looking forward to a few days of preparation after playing five games in a row since our last practice.”

B-E will host Ottertail Central at 6:30pm Friday in Evansville.
