The Brandon-Evansville baseball team swept Ortonville on Thursday, winning 8-3 and 12-2.

In game one the Chargers secured the victory thanks to five runs in the sixth inning.  Riley Perleberg, Brady Perleberg, and Kyle Schaffran each had RBIs in the big inning.  Schaffran went 3-for-4 at the plate with a double, a run scored and an RBI.

Tyler Bitzan (6IP, 0R, 2H, 11K, 1BB) was the winning pitcher and Josh Mueller (6IP, 8R, 8H, 11K, 0BB) was saddled with the loss for the Trojans.

“We received an excellent pitching performance from Tyler Bitzan, which was great to see so early in the season,” commented B-E Head Coach Brian Perleberg.  “Tyler worked ahead in the count and kept his pitch count low by consistently throwing strikes and allowing his defense to make plays behind him.”

The Chargers scored seven runs in the sixth inning on its way to their game two victory.  Bitzan, Titus Fuller, Xavier Grussing, Kian Gackle, and Riley Perleberg each drove in runs in the inning.  Schaffran was 2-for-4 at the plate with 2 runs batted in.  Dru Boots had two hits to lead the Trojans.

Winning pitcher Dezmond White went six innings, allowing four hits and two runs, while striking out seven batters.

“Dezmond pitched very well and showed a lot of confidence while delivering six quality innings on the mound,” said Coach Perleberg.  “Kyle and Riley led us offensively and our defense played their best game of the young season.  It was nice to be back playing baseball again after another week of having to battle the weather.”

The Chargers head to Fergus Falls Friday to play another Pheasant Conference double header against Hillcrest Lutheran Academy.
