The Brandon-Evansville Chargers ran for 206 yards and compiled 335 yards of total offense on Friday as they won a shootout with the North Central Stars, 26-20.

"What a great game by two very good teams,” said B-E Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “This game was what football should be hard hitting, helping the other team up, and going at it again.  Just good clean hard-nosed football from both sides.  Cade and Tyler ran the ball hard and got the tough yards.  Kobe threw the ball well and our receivers, Kyle, Xavier, and Nathan made some great catches.  Couldn't be prouder of the team after this game and was very impressed with the North Central Stars."

The Stars jumped out to a 6-0 lead with a 38 yard touchdown run by Jacob Pendergast just 1:15 into the opening quarter.  The Chargers responded four minutes later when Kobe Reiland connected with Kyle Schaffran for a 22-yard TD pass, followed by a two-point conversion run by Cade Carlson to give B-E an 8-6 lead.

With 8 minutes left in the first half Reiland hooked up with Schaffran on a 39-yard scoring toss and the Chargers held a 14-6 halftime lead.

North Central cut the lead to 14-12 on a 90 yard touchdown by Pendergast run two minutes into the second half, however, Carlson’s 3 yard TD run with four minutes remaining in the third quarter gave the Chargers a 20-12 lead.

A 33 yard TD run by Pendergast and successful two-point conversion pass from Dale Erickson on the first play of the fourth quarter tied the game at 20-20.  With seven minutes to play in the game Carlson took the ball into the end zone from three yards out and the Chargers were able to hold on for the 26-20 win.

Carlson had a big night for Brandon-Evansville, running for 148 yards on 34 carries.  Reiland completed 6-of-11 passes for 129 yards.  Schaffran was the leading receiver with 3 catches for 91 yards.  Defensive leaders were Carlson (1 solo tackle, 11 assisted tackles), Mike Cochran (2 solo tackles, 8 assisted tackles) and Nathan Baumann (3 solo tackles, 5 assisted tackles).

Pendergast had a huge night, rushing for 212 yards on just 17 carries.  Erickson had an interception for the Stars to lead their defense.
