Clinton-Graceville-Beardsley scored 14 third quarter points on the way to a 20-6 victory over Brandon-Evansville on Friday night in Graceville.  It was the season opener for both teams.

"Hats off to CGB, they played tough, physical, and fast,” stated Brandon-Evansville Head Coach Tim Pattrin.  “We need to raise our level of play this week and get ready for another physical opponent.  We will learn from this and move forward."

The Wolverines struck first as they scored on a one-yard run by Nate Moberg with 6:15 left in the opening quarter.  The two-point conversion attempt failed and C-G-B led 6-0.  One minute into the second quarter the Chargers evened the score on a one yard run by Kobe Reiland.  They also failed to convert on their two-point try and the teams were scoreless the rest of the half, making for a 6-6 tie at halftime.

C-G-B scored on a 57-yard TD pass just a minute into the third quarter, taking a 12-6 lead, and added a one yard touchdown run and two-point conversion pass with 3:30 left in the quarter to increase their lead to 20-6.  Neither team scored the rest of the way.

The Wolverines ran for 144 yards and had 210 yards of total offense, recording 12 first downs.
Moberg completed 2-of-5 passes for 66 yards, throwing one touchdown pass and being intercepted once.  #4 was the leading rusher with 75 yards on 22 carries and #21 added 56 yards on 16 attempts.  #11 hauled in both passes for 66 yards and a score.  Bitzan led the defense with 6.5 tackles.  John Roers and Reiland had 5.5 tackles each.  Reiland also had an interception.

Brandon-Evansville ran for 108 yards and had 35 passing yards for a total of 143 yards on the night.  Reiland completed 4-of-12 passes for 35 yards and threw an interception.   Tyler Bitzan led the ground attack for the Chargers with 73 yards on 18 attempts.
